Lakota Persing

I am Lakota Persing, from a small town in southwest Kansas called Hugoton. This year I am a junior at Hugoton High School. After graduation I plan on studying elementary education. In my past ten years in 4-H, I have learned what it truly takes to be a leader. One of my favorite projects that I am involved in is the market beef project in which I show competitively across southwest Kansas. Along with being involved in 4-H, I am also very active in other leadership organizations and clubs such as National Honor Society, Student Council, Girl Scouts, Science Club, and FFA. Being selected to be a part of the 2022 National 4-H congress Design Team is by far my biggest accomplishment and I can’t wait to see everything come together!

Five things I love about being a 4-H member:
• Development of life skills.
• Meeting new people and making friendships.
• Making an impact on my community.
• Opportunities are endless.
• Making the best better!

Quote about National 4-H Congress
When reflecting upon my time spent at the one hundredth celebration of the National 4-H Congress, I began to think about the people that I met and the lessons that I had learned. To say that being in attendance and participating in this time-honored event is the highlight of my 4-H career would be an understatement. From the inspirational words of the speakers to the workshops that challenged me to think, to serving the community that gave so much to myself and other delegates while in attendance, and the lifelong friendships that I made.
